Community Life

The Keystone Experience provides extra-curricular activities for a wide variety of student interests.

We celebrate intelligence and uniqueness

In many traditional educational settings, the academically advanced often find themselves on the periphery, yearning for an environment that not only recognizes but celebrates their unique capabilities. The strain of feeling misplaced in a system ill-equipped to nurture distinct academic prowess and “against the grain” individuality can be disheartening. However, at Keystone, the narrative takes a warmly inclusive turn.

A community of diverse individuals

The Keystone teaching style seeks to satisfy the innate curiosity that our students possess. In the Little School and Kindergarten, teachers nurture children’s natural inquisitiveness. Active learning methods develop their curiosity and knowledge through the Lower School years.

As students progress through Middle and Upper Schools, they are encouraged to maintain that child-like curiosity. They learn how to ask questions, find answers, and think broadly, and the quality of their schoolwork is exceptional.

Achieving potential among friends

From playgrounds to study lounges, students develop their social selves. The bonds of friendship are formed with peers and with “school buddies” across grades. Friends cheer each other’s success and strengthen each other’s resilience.

In the Upper School, students seeking to deepen their knowledge, hone an academic skill, or pursue independent study will find willing support from Keystone faculty. If we don’t have a course - Latin, for example - we often can arrange the time and opportunity for the student to take it.

Don’t see a course or activity that fits an interest? Students may form a study group or a club and ask a teacher to be their advisor!

Keystone School spirit

We also have a lot of fun at Keystone! In Lower and Middle Schools, we have afterschool activities including on-campus socials, outings for roller skating, and game nights. Upper Schoolers hold game nights, Stone Soul, a quarterly open-mike talent show, and compete against each other in Spirit War activities.

Supporting the Whole Student

From PK3 to 12th grade, Keystone’s dedicated counselors walk alongside students through academic, social, and emotional challenges—offering individual support, proactive programming, and family partnerships when needed. Because thriving students aren’t just high-achieving—they’re whole.
